My Brake System Journey

This truck had the stock brakes on it when I purchased it. These consisted of single piston cast iron calipers on the front, and drum brakes on the rear. The power-assisted master cylinder contained the proportioning valve to the system.

As I drove the truck I realized that it was difficult to maintain an even pull with this setup. The rears needed constant adkustments and the front caliper pistons were very suceptible to freezing in position.

The following pages document my decisions and experiences in upgrading the braking system to a point that I am hapopy with, and that meets the performance and safety needs that I have.
